Ms. Sears Classroom Webpage     While looking through some of the teacher pages for Leon High School, I was impressed with the creative and the amount of content in some of the pages. I specifically decided to write about Ms. Erica Sear's U.S History Class page. I love History and her page was CONTENT HEAVY! It had a bunch of cool stuff not only for students, but useful information for parents as well. The way this teacher split up her materials was easy to navigate, She separated her material based on the different units throughout the entire year. The units ranged from unit 1- unit 11 and even included early EOC review at the beginning of the year & EOC review at the end of the year as well. Within each module, she had quilts, notes, study guides, vocabulary activities, books, and videos.      As an educator, I would most definitely use technology in a similar way! Growing up, my teachers were not too knowledgeable on technology and did not necessarily go above and beyond for

Initially when I first started to use Diigo, I was extremely confused about the entire thing. I also did not understand the importance of it. It was very confusing for me to use. Just looking at it, kind of gave me a headache. Now, I have definitely come to appreciate it just a little bit more. I am still not super familiar with it, but I have learned how useful it can be. I have come to love the tool. In the past, I have tried to look for a simple web highlighter and have been unsuccessful. Not only is Diigo a simple highlighter, but there are a ton of bonus features including bookmarking//read later, tagging/keywords, lists/categories, notes/annotation, and the social/sharing features which I  love! I really like all these features, however, I dont like that when you log into Diigo it looks messy and confusing and makes you not want to learn how to use it. I think it can be discouraging in that aspect.      When it comes to blogging, I have enjoyed it. It is easy and fun to do. T

LAFS.1112.SL.2.5: This standard really places importance on creativity when it comes to  curriculum , as well as stresses the importance of being creative in the education field. The standard mainly focuses on digital media, whether it be textual, graphical,  audio ,  visual , etc.. in presentations. This standard is important  because  often times students  don't  find interest in the  curriculum  that is being  taught  to them at school. Students also have different ways of learning or  preferred  methods of learning, so as an educator it is important to meet those students needs so they can learn to the best of their own unique  abilities . I would say that I would be confident carrying out everything that this standard encompasses. Given my previous experience as a curriculum coach for Peace Jam South East, as. 4th and 5th grade math and science teacher, and as a preschool teacher, I feel more than prepared to implement this standard. I used a lot of digital media during m

Fair use and copy right is certainly a topic that was not taught to me in school, but rather something I learned on my own later on in life. Fair use can be described as being allowed to use work that is copyrighted, but only under specific conditions & without the permission of the copy right owner. Fair use allows  individuals to possibly build upon a prior work, without infringing on the previous individual's/ or original owners' rights. Copyright basically allows the owner to do whatever they want. It gives them the right to decide what they want to do with it. They can control the use of their work by others. As a teacher, I believe the first step to teaching these topics is by being a good role model. Being mindful and well informed is important, especially in the topic. A good start, would be to explain he overall goal of both terms. Yes, each term has their own definition. However, showing students that the purpose of these terms is to incentivize creative is

I have been using Microsoft Word for as long as I can remember. I feel like this is a software that is automatically taught to children, since an early age. I have probably been using word since 1st or 2nd grade. I use it all the time to write papers & I even took a computer software class at Miami Dade College, where I learned about the specific of Microsoft Word. Overall, this is a super easy software to use & more convenient for me. I would prefer it much more than google documents. For some reason, google documents feels messy to me. However, I will say, that Google Documents is convenient when having someone check an essay or any document.  The ISTE standard that is most meaningful to me is 2.1 Learner. This ISTE standard states that, "Educators continually improve their practice by learning from and with others and exploring proven and promising practices that leverage technology to improve student learning." This means that as an educator you set learning goa

My name is Thalia Mendoza. I was born in Havana, Cuba, but raised in Miami, Florida. I grew up in a single parent household & have always been really independent. Growing up I always attempted to explore a bunch of different hobbies and interests, so I was always up to something. Some of my hobbies growing up consisted of playing volleyball and soccer. I also used to volunteer in my community a lot at nursing homes and with youth. As much as I love sports and working in educational settings, my passion is law. I hope to become a criminal and personal injury attorney in a few years.            Ever since I could  remember, I have always worked in an education setting, even though I never wanted to be a teacher. Thinking back, I have really worked with youth all my life. When I was in high school, I was a student coach at a middle school, working with the volleyball and soccer teams. Throughout high school, I would continuously go into elementary schools to work with the student
